That door really makes it easy to pee in the rain gutter.

Well, it’s a heck of a way to get hot air out of the house. Or would be, if it were not in Washington. I guess it’s there so they can go out and fiddle with the satellite dish. Or more charitably, there was a deck there, but it was torn out to use the same points of connection for a roof to close in the porch below.

Counterpoint - that roof looks like a nice place with a significant other and a beer, looking at the stars or sun (source: someone I knew in college lived in an old house with this setup, because building codes are for suckers)

He’s a smoker whose wife doesn’t let him smoke in the house...he got sick of walking downstairs all the way outside for his midnight smoke break...this was the solution.

The door makes it easier to get the patio furniture out on the ‘ruf’.

I assume they dream of one day adding a deck? And in the mean time, they have a cool, if somewhat unsafe outdoor space, and easy access for gutter cleaning?

I had a friend who’s apartment had roof that was very easy to walk out too, though a window mind you, but hang out on that roof was always so relaxing.
Also maybe they planned on building a elevated deck, but neither haven’t yet, or ran out of cash?
Either way I support the decision to roof door,

This reminds me, I need to add an attic access door from my office to the space over my garage. But now I’m thinking, if I’m gonna cut in 1 door, why not 2? One to the attic under the garage, one to the roof over the garage!

This would make sense in the northeast.

Oh, the door. That’s what’s called a Br-Exit, it seemed like a good idea to someone, however in practice many people can see it was a waste of time and will ultimately cause pain.

I had an apartment like that in college. It was fun.
